Particularly strong fluidization is referred to as homogenization. Here, the entire product - or different products with similar particle sizes - is swirled by charging the fluidization bed with a very high air flow. Floors of homogenization silos are completely covered with porous plates. When putting the silo plant into operation, the air velocity should be at a level that an even fluidized bed is formed and the individual bulk components are being intermixed in the silo. Fluidizing-bed generally means a fine-grained solid layer, which is loosened by a throughflowing fluid up to a state in which single particles can change their locations over smaller or larger distances.
The use of homogenization beds is especially suitable for the uniform mixing of different powders, which have similar particle sizes and densities, as well as for powders coming from different production batches.
